My Pop the pirate

Had a great father's day over at my folks house yesterday. My Pops never ceases to amaze me. He's a true artist in every sense of the word. Everything he creates however, is functional. Several years ago he acquired this old boat with fins sticking out the sides completely stripped down to the hull. We all tried to convince him to make the old batman boat from the 60's show out of it but he had other ideas...a full-fledged pirate ship! Everything is scavenged or fabricated down to the zillion sails he made, and the many masts installed on this thing. First voyage is sometime this week. This thing is gonna fly with all the sail he has rigged up on her. That's my daughter in the shot for scale.
happy father's day dad! really proud of your latest creation.

Shade grown Organic Costa Rican

Never before at Harry and Beans Coffee have I carried Organic Costa Rican. A couple years ago, I wandered around trying to find a tasty organic Costa Rican to replace the royal mountain tarrazzu I've been roasting for fourteen years. The ultimate goal at Harry and Beans Coffee, is to make the entire menu Fair Trade Organic but not at the expense of quality and taste. This new arrival surpasses the old Costa Rican I've always had in the past. Still buttery smooth like the tarrazzu, but a bit richer methinks. I can't wait to get it in some blends to see where it can go. Stop by for a cup to try it yourself or send me an email. hpcoltrane@gmail.com.

Painting parts and inspiration

While I'm waiting for the fuel pump, I have deciding to paint the fairings on the scoot. Back in the day, my dad used this rusty red primer for the '55 chevy hot rods he fixed up.Pretty much completely different from the black primer that was really popular at the time. I figured I'd color this scoot the same way. Should have worn a respirator as my nostrils are full red now...anyway its about 70% back together and really starting to look cool with the chrome contrast...

Ghetto scoot progress

The harry and beans coffee delivery scoot is getting closer to road worthy. I narrowed down the fuel problem to a faulty vacuum pump by rigging up this weed wacker gas tank. Bike seat ziptied for "safety". i did rip around the block for a few laps so its promising that this pile of parts is gonna rock out soon.

I must say so far, I absolutely love it.However, my surf break is over and its back to roasting Harry and Beans Coffee.
